No. Referral Factory is built for non-technical users and does not require a developer to set up or run.
The core setup — building your referral page, configuring your reward, and launching your program — is done through a visual interface with no code required. Most businesses are up and running within a few days.

When might you involve a developer?

A developer is optional but can be useful in a few specific situations:
If you use HubSpot, Salesforce, Stripe, or Intercom — or if you're happy to qualify leads manually or via CSV — you will never need to touch a line of code.
  • API integration — If you want to automatically add referrers or qualify leads by connecting Referral Factory directly to your own backend system, your developer would use the REST API.
  • Webhook setup — If your qualification trigger lives in a custom system (not HubSpot, Stripe, Salesforce, etc.), a developer can configure your system to send a webhook to Referral Factory when a customer converts.
  • Custom HTML pages — Enterprise plan users can upload their own fully custom-designed referral pages. Building those pages requires design and development work.
  • Installing the website widget or pop-up — This requires pasting a small snippet of code into your website. Most non-developers can do this, but if your website is managed by an agency or locked CMS, you may need their help.
