Commission versus Fixed Monetary Value

Fixed Monetary Value gives the same set amount each time the Reward Rule creates a reward. Commission calculates the reward as a percentage of the value generated by the successful referral.
Commission is the calculation method. The issuing method is separate and determines how the calculated reward is fulfilled, such as through a connected provider, an automation workflow or a manual process.

Before you start

Decide whether the reward should go to the Referrer or the Lead, and decide which campaign event should create it.
A Commission reward needs the value of the referred customer's sale or deal. If you use a connected CRM and track the total sale or deal value in a CRM property, that value can be mapped to Referral Factory. Referral Factory can then calculate the Commission reward from the mapped value automatically.
Example: Deal value = $1,000; Commission = 10%; Reward = $100.

Create the Reward Rule

  1. Open the campaign where you want to create the reward.
  2. Go to Rewards → Reward Rules.
  3. Select New reward, or open an existing Draft Reward Rule if you are editing one.
  4. Under “Who is this reward for?”, choose Referrer or Lead.
  5. Under Reward Type, select Commission.
  6. Select Next to continue.

Set the Commission value

  1. Choose the reward trigger. For example, select Qualified when the referred Lead must meet the campaign qualification criteria first.
  2. Enter the Commission (%) that the recipient should receive.
  3. If you want to limit the maximum value of one Commission reward, turn on Set Commission Cap and enter the cap.
The percentage is calculated from the sale or deal value supplied through your connected CRM mapping. Use the CRM property that contains the total sale or deal value.
The cap applies to each individual Commission reward. It limits the maximum amount without changing the percentage used by the rule.

Choose one-time or ongoing rewards

Choose the frequency shown in the builder:
  • One-time reward per qualified referral — the Commission reward is calculated once for the qualifying referral.
  • Ongoing rewards per qualified referral — the Commission reward is paid again according to the interval configured for the rule.
If you choose Ongoing rewards per qualified referral, configure the interval shown by the builder, such as every 30 days, every 60 days or another available interval.
This is schedule- or interval-based. It is not a separate reward for every individual new purchase.
For example, a rule could pay 10% of the mapped deal value every 30 days for the period configured in the Reward Rule.

Choose how the reward is issued

  1. Select Next to open Choose Issuing Method.
  2. Choose how the calculated reward will be fulfilled. Available options can include Issue Yourself, Tremendous, Stripe Credits (Test Mode), PayPal, Webhooks, Zapier, Make.com and N8n.
The Commission settings determine the reward value. The issuing method determines how that value is delivered. Selecting an issuing method does not by itself confirm that a reward has been sent.

Complete and activate the rule

  1. Enter a descriptive Reward Name.
  2. Review Ignore Rewards for Existing Users if that control is available for the rule and you do not want the rule to apply to people who qualified before it was activated.
  3. Leave Auto Issue Rewards off if rewards should wait for manual authorization. If you turn it on, review the issuing method and the possible reward value first.
  4. Optionally turn on Reward Limit and enter the maximum number of rewards one person can receive from this rule.
  5. Review the recipient, Commission percentage, cap, trigger, frequency, interval and issuing method.
  6. Select Activate.
