The primary way leads enter a Referral Factory campaign is through a referral link shared by a referrer.
Here is the full flow:

  • A referrer shares their unique referral link with a friend (via email, WhatsApp, social media, or any channel they choose)
  • The friend opens the link, which loads the referrer's personalised Referral Link Page
  • The friend fills in their details (at minimum: First Name and Email) and submits the form
  • Referral Factory records the lead and attributes it to the referrer
  • The lead appears in your Leads tab with Status: Pending
  • The lead is redirected to either your thank you page or your website, depending on your Step 2 configuration

Other ways leads can enter

Leads can also be added:
In all cases, every lead must be attributed to a referrer. There is no way to add an unattributed lead by any method.
  • Manually — one at a time via the Add Leads modal
  • By CSV upload — bulk import with referrer attribution
  • Via API — programmatically from your own system
  • By referrer direct submission — referrers can submit leads directly on behalf of a contact using the Lead Submission Form or the sticky bar (for logged-in users), without the lead needing to click a referral link.

What "Referred By" means

The Referred By column in the Leads tab shows the first name of the referrer responsible for that lead. This attribution is permanent and campaign-scoped — it does not change even if the lead later becomes a referrer themselves.
