Qualification (marking the referral as successful) and reward issuance (actually paying or sending the reward) are two separate steps in Referral Factory. You can qualify a referral immediately when a payment is made, but delay the reward by 30, 60, or 90 days.
This protects you against referrals that initially convert but then reverse — through refunds, chargebacks, cancelled subscriptions, or non-payment. If the reward has not yet been issued, you can still cancel it.
Delaying rewards is common practice, especially in financial services, SaaS, and any business with a meaningful refund or churn risk.
