Coupon Rewards and Stripe Promo Codes are separate features. Coupon Rewards use a pool of codes you upload. Stripe Promo Codes are created through Stripe and are used for referral tracking and checkout discounts.

What is a Coupon Reward?

A Coupon Reward is a reward made from coupon codes that you already have in your store, checkout or another system. You upload the codes to Referral Factory, choose when they should be earned, and Referral Factory assigns an available code to the right person when that event happens.
For example, a retailer could upload 1,000 unique $20 voucher codes. When a Lead or Referrer earns a Coupon Reward, Referral Factory assigns one unused code to that person and tracks the reward through the coupon table.

How do unique coupon codes work?

Codes are kept in a coupon pool. Each recipient receives one available code from that pool.
The value, expiry date and redemption rules belong to the system where the codes were created.
Referral Factory records the recipient, email address, code, status, issued date and redemption date.
The batch page shows Issued, Used, Remaining and Total. Issued shows how many codes have been assigned from the pool. It may include rewards that are still Due, so it will not always match the number of rows marked Issued.
Referral Factory does not create the underlying discount or voucher value. It assigns and tracks the codes you provide.

Can I reward Leads, Referrers, or both?

Yes. Coupon Rewards has separate Leads and Referrers areas. A campaign can have one coupon batch for Leads and one coupon batch for Referrers, so you can set up either audience or both. A Referrer can receive more than one unique coupon when multiple referrals meet the selected trigger.
The trigger choices are different for each audience. Leads can earn a code when they join the campaign or become qualified. Referrers can earn a code when they join the portal, get a referral, or get a referral that becomes qualified.

When is the coupon assigned?

When the earning event you selected happens, Referral Factory creates the coupon reward as Due. If a coupon is available at that point, Referral Factory assigns the code and changes the reward to Issued automatically. If no coupon is available, the reward stays Due until more codes are available. A coupon code can appear on a Due row before the reward changes to Issued.
Coupon Rewards does not have an Issue or Issue Now action, and there is no Auto Issue setting. Issuing is automatic when Referral Factory can fulfil the reward with an available code. The configured coupon notification is sent when the reward becomes Issued. Marking a code as redeemed is a separate step; it does not issue the reward.

Can redeeming a coupon qualify a Lead?

Yes. When you record redeemed coupon codes, enable Also qualify leads? to qualify the matching Lead at the same time.

Where does the recipient see their coupon?

Email: Referral Factory sends the configured coupon notification when the reward becomes Issued. It can include the {Reward Coupon} variable, which inserts the recipient’s unique code.
Referral-link thank-you page: Lead coupons can be shown here when they are issued when a Lead joins the campaign.
Coupon table: you can always see which code was assigned to which recipient in Referral Factory.
The thank-you-page option is not available for Lead coupons that are triggered when a Lead becomes qualified.

Can I use my own existing coupon codes?

Yes. Paste one code per line, or upload a CSV or text file. The codes should already exist in the system where recipients will redeem them. Referral Factory then uses the available codes in the batch instead of generating new voucher values.

Can I add more coupon codes later?

Yes. Open the existing batch and choose Upload more. You can paste additional codes or upload another CSV or text file. If you add a code that is already in the batch, it does not increase the batch total, while a new code does.

What happens if I run out of coupons?

Watch the Remaining count before you launch or promote the campaign. When Remaining reaches zero, Due rows can stay Due until more codes are available. Use Upload more to add codes so Referral Factory can process the waiting rewards.
Keep an eye on Remaining and upload more codes before the pool reaches zero.

What is the difference between a Coupon Reward and a Stripe Promo Code?

Coupon RewardStripe Promo Code
Uses unique codes that you upload to Referral Factory.Uses codes created through a connected Stripe account.
Gives a Lead or Referrer one of your existing codes and tracks assignment and redemption.Gives a Referrer a personal code and tracks checkout attribution for the referral.
Best when you already have vouchers or coupons, including codes from a non-Stripe system.Best when Stripe checkout should apply the discount and record the referral.

When are Coupon Rewards a good choice?

Coupon Rewards are a good fit when you already have unique vouchers or discount codes, especially if they come from a system other than Stripe. If you need a personal Referrer code that friends can enter at Stripe checkout for a discount and referral attribution, use Stripe Promo Codes instead.
