How Can I Put Each Customer's Unique Referral Link Into My Existing Emails or Messages?

Use each customer’s own referral link in an existing email or messaging workflow so referrals remain attributed to the right Referrer.

Can I use an email or messaging platform without a native integration?

Yes. For example, you could use Zapier, Make, n8n, or the API with Mailchimp to:
The same pattern can work with a messaging platform such as Twilio: customer → Referral Factory → unique referral link generated → link stored or passed back → personalised SMS or message includes that customer’s link. This is an automation or API workflow example, not a claim of a native Twilio integration.
Step 1
Take subscribers or customers from the email platform.
Step 2
Add them to the Referral Factory campaign as Referrers.
Step 3
Generate their individual referral information.
Step 4
Send or store the unique Referral Link against the customer record.
Step 5
Use that link as a custom field or personalisation token in future emails.

Do I have to use my existing email or messaging platform?

No. If you do not need to keep the referral request in your existing platform, send the email directly from Referral Factory instead. Add the customers as Referrers, use a Referral Factory email, and include their personal referral information. This is usually the simplest option.

What if my email tool cannot use a merge field?

Prepare the links outside the email tool and use the tool’s supported import or personalisation method, or send through a connected CRM workflow. If the system cannot store or insert a different link for each recipient, do not use one shared link when individual attribution matters.

Does Referral Factory provide one universal merge tag?

The exact merge-field name and the way a particular email or messaging platform receives the link depend on that platform and connection. Confirm the current field name in the connected system before publishing the message. There is no universal merge tag for every external tool.

What should I include in the message?

  • A clear reason to refer someone.
  • The benefit or reward, described accurately.
  • A short explanation of what happens after the referred person uses the link.
  • The customer’s personal referral link
  • A main call to action.
