Why do Leads have to Sign Up on Referral Factory first?

When someone follows a Referrer’s unique referral link, they first land on the Referral Link Page, where they submit their details before continuing to your website or next step.
By default, we collect First Name and Email, but you can add other fields if you need more information.

Why do we capture the Lead first?

Capturing and managing the Lead in Referral Factory first gives you several advantages.
Track who made the referralEach Referrer has a unique referral link. When the Lead submits their details, we can create the Lead and attribute them to the correct Referrer before they leave Referral Factory.
Know who your Leads are before they purchaseYou do not have to wait until someone completes a purchase, payment, booking, or another conversion event before you know who they are.
Because you already have their contact details, you can follow up with Leads who do not complete the next step, send them into your CRM, or include them in your existing sales process. This gives you another opportunity to turn a referral into a customer.
Keep the referral even if the Lead does not convert immediatelyIf you sent someone directly to your website and they left before purchasing or registering, you might never know who they were or who referred them.
By capturing them first, the referral is already recorded. The Lead can remain Pending until they complete the action you use to define a successful referral.
Give the Lead more information before they continueYour Referral Link Page is also an opportunity to introduce the Lead to your business and strengthen the referral.
You can use the page to share information about your products or services, key benefits, special offers, customer reviews or testimonials, and explain what the Lead should do next.
This can help build trust before they continue to your website, checkout, booking page, or registration flow.

What happens after the Lead submits their details?

After the Lead signs up, you can either show them a customizable thank-you page or redirect them to another URL.
For example, you can send them to:
You can also pass supported information through URL parameters to make the next step easier to complete.
Leads do not always need to enter their own details through the Referral Link Page. They can also be added manually, imported, added through the API, or submitted by a Referrer using the Lead Submission Form.
Whichever method you use, the Lead needs to be connected to a Referrer so the referral can be tracked correctly.
