Can I Move a Referrer from One Campaign to Another?

Referrers cannot be transferred directly. Add the same person to the new campaign and keep the original record for its history.

Overview

Referrers cannot be moved directly from one Referral Factory campaign to another. Each campaign is a separate environment, so a Referrer’s Referral Link, Leads, rewards, and referral history remain connected to the campaign where they were originally created.
If you want the same person to participate in another campaign, add them as a Referrer to the new campaign instead. Referral Factory will generate a new unique Referral Link for them in that campaign.

Whether a referrer can be moved between campaigns

There is no Move Referrer action that transfers an existing Referrer from Campaign A to Campaign B.
Instead, the Referrer needs to be added to the second campaign as a new Referrer record. The same person can participate in more than one campaign, so using the same email address in a different campaign is supported.
For example:
Campaign A: Sarah has Referral Link A. Campaign B: Sarah is added as a Referrer and Referral Factory generates Referral Link B.
Sarah is now a Referrer in both campaigns, with a different Referral Link for each one. Each Referrer has one unique Referral Link per campaign.

Safest alternative if direct move is not supported

The safest approach is to add the Referrer to the new campaign while keeping their existing record in the original campaign.
For a single Referrer, you can add them manually to the new campaign.
If you are moving a group of Referrers to another campaign, you can:
Referral Factory’s current guidance for moving Referrers between campaigns is to export the Referrers from the original campaign and upload them to the new one. Their original campaign history remains where it is.
Step 1
Open the original campaign.
Step 2
Go to Referrers.
Step 3
Export the Referrers you want to add to the new campaign.
Step 4
Switch to the new campaign.
Step 5
Import those Referrers using the CSV.
Step 6
Confirm that each person has received a new Referral Link for the new campaign.

Duplicate considerations

Duplicate detection applies within each individual campaign.
This means the same email address can exist as a Referrer in Campaign A and Campaign B without creating a duplicate conflict between the two campaigns. Campaigns keep their participant data separate.
However, if the person already exists as a Referrer in the destination campaign, work with their existing Referrer record instead of trying to add them again.
Before doing a large CSV import, it is a good idea to check whether some of the Referrers are already participating in the destination campaign.

Steps to preserve history

If your goal is to transition a Referrer to another campaign without losing their existing history:
Because campaign data is not transferred, keeping the original record is the safest way to preserve historical referral and reward information while the Referrer begins participating in the new campaign.
Step 1
Keep the Referrer in the original campaign.
Step 2
Export or note any Referrer information you need.
Step 3
Add the same person as a Referrer in the new campaign.
Step 4
Confirm that their new Referral Link has been generated.
Step 5
Update your emails, CRM, or other customer communications so they use the new campaign’s Referral Link going forward.
Step 6
Verify that new referrals are entering the new campaign as expected.
Step 7
Keep the original Referrer record if you need access to their previous Leads, attribution, or reward history.
