If the same person is referred by more than one referrer, Referral Factory keeps the original referral attribution from the first Referral Link Page where that person submits their details.
For Referral Link attribution, simply clicking a referral link does not establish the relationship. The referred person needs to submit their details before Referral Factory creates the Lead and connects them to the Referrer.
Which Referrer gets the credit?
Imagine Jess and Alex both refer Stacey.
Stacey remains attributed to Jess. Alex’s later link does not replace the existing referral relationship.

If Stacey had only viewed Jess’s Referral Link Page without submitting her details, no Lead or attribution would have been created yet. If she later submitted her details through Alex’s Referral Link Page first, the referral would be attributed to Alex.
- Jess sends Stacey her Referral Link.
- Stacey opens Jess’s Referral Link Page and submits her details.
- Referral Factory creates Stacey as a Lead and attributes her to Jess.
- Alex later sends Stacey his Referral Link.
Where can I see who received the attribution?
Open Leads and find the Lead you want to check. The Referred By column shows the Referrer connected to that Lead.
Once the relationship has been created, the Lead can remain Pending until they meet your qualification criteria. When they later become Qualified, the original Referrer remains connected to that referral.
Is attribution campaign-specific?
Yes. Referral attribution is recorded within the campaign where the referral happened. The same person could therefore have a different Referrer relationship in another campaign.
This article refers specifically to Referral Link attribution. Stripe Promo Codes use a different attribution flow, where Referral Factory uses the redeemed promo code to identify the Referrer.
